Arroyo Grande Community Info

First incorporated in 1911, Arroyo Grande is part of San Luis Obispo County in Central California between San Francisco and Los Angeles. The first inhabitants of this area were the Chumash Indians before the land was purchased in 1836.

The Village of Arroyo Grande is filled with historical buildings from the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. Also full of history you can find five museums and a historic reference library where Arroyo Grande’s history comes to life with artifacts dating back to the early settlements.

As a small town filled with many vibrant events and festivals, there is always something to do. Between events there are wonderful restaurants and shopping in the area. So much joy and pride can be found in Arroyo Grande.
