San Luis Obispo Community Info

As the fifth of twenty one missions in California, San Luis Obispo is located halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Only eight miles from the Pacific Ocean SLO is filled with much to do. From historical walking tours explaining how this city has grown since it was founded by Father Junipero Serra in 1772, to wine tours through the amazing vineyards, to a world class performing-arts center entertainment is always nearby. Yet with a population of just 44,000 the SLO suburban lifestyle can also bring much relaxation and more of a small community feel.

One of the main attractions of this city is the heart of SLO’s downtown, Mission Plaza. Mission Plaza serves as both the cultural and social center of SLO with wonderful shopping, beautiful indoor and outdoor dining, and fabulous nightlife making San Luis Obispo even more beautiful, interesting, and a great place to call home.
